Welcome to Capital Vista. Really looking forward to you enjoying your stay, taking in the amazing views, relaxing, and allowing yourself to take some time out!
Even though the simple things in life are wonderful we have added a home automation element in this apartment which if you haven’t experienced before could be a bit overwhelming, so we have put together these few pages to help explain and help guide you understanding it. Hopefully with a little trial and error, not being apprehensive to try, you can appreciate and enjoy it. Technology is amazing and can make a wonderful feel to an environment. Have fun!
Front Door and Garage Doors #
Apartment Door Lock #
While an integrated keypad/proximity reader handle has been installed at the apartment front door, its currently not activated for guest use. Please use the key to gain access to the apartment. The front door to the apartment is always locked from the outside so a key is always needed. When you first arrive the front door handle just moves up and down and appears to feel like it just flops and doesn’t work, that’s ok, this is the door locked. Just use your key to open the door. When you are leaving the apartment via the front door, the handle is always engaged allowing the door to be opened.
Garage Pedestrian Door #
A combination keypad and proximity reader has been installed for the garage pedestrian door. The proximity fob will open this door, present the fob to combination reader/keypad (near the red light at the top) the keypad/reader will change to green allowing you to pull the door handle to open the door. Alternatively, the key can be used directly to open the lock and pull the handle. Currently the pin is not activated for Guests.
Garage Roller Door #
Once in the garage you will have access to the roller door control panel which is mounted on the post near the pedestrian door. You can control the roller door via this panel allowing the roller door to be raised and lowered.
* If you are lowering the roller door you need to exit the garage via the pedestrian door not via the roller door opening. There is a safety beam that will be triggered, that will open the roller door again if obstructed.
** If the pedestrian door is closed, push the handle down directly to open the pedestrian door.
Lights and Blind #
When you arrive press the ‘Welcome’ button at the switch plate in the entry to the apartment, this will let the home automation system know a guest is in the apartment. This allows future lighting scenes to be activated, changing the mood of the apartment during your stay.
System Overview #
Lights and blinds in the apartment are connected to a single system, called CBUS. This allows each switch to control the lights and blinds, it can also trigger scenes. A scene is a group of actions that will change the environment from a single button press. Eg Close the blinds, Set the lights to 50%.
Switches #
CBUS switches are press to action; most lights are dimmable. To turn a light on or off, press the switch, if you hold or depress the switch for a longer period, the light will start to dim providing control over the level of the light.
Switch Indication lights A small LED light is integrated into each switch. When the blue light is on, it acts like a ‘press me’ prompt. On multi gang switches sometimes it’s hard to know which switch to press to turn on the room lights. So normally someone presses every switch to get some lights on in the room. By press the light switch with the blue indication, the main room lighting will turn on. Hopefully making it easier to have lighting on in the area, if you want any other lighting or blinds in that area, you can now read the labels on the other switches and press as needed.
Once a switch is turned on, the indication light changes to Orange showing the room lighting is now on.
Some switches are set up without any indication lights, so no blue or orange. These switches are used for other functions like scenes which are momentary press to set the scene.
Scenes #
Scenes are used to set several lights and/or blinds to a predefined level (eg 30%) in a room. Scenes are triggered by pressing (momentary) a switch, so they are user activated.
Scenes are located on the switches in the following areas:
| Entry | Welcome | Press this button when you first arrive, it will open the blinds and set the apartment up to know a guest has arrived. This will trigger other schedules during your stay. This is completely optional; everything will still work in the apartment. It will only allow optional scenes to be triggered eg the bedroom turn down scene in the evening. |
| Goodbye | When leaving the apartment for a few hours or the day, this scene will close the blinds, turn off the lights and any AV sources that are turned on. Essentially turn the entire apartment off from a single button. | |
| Dinner Relax | This will set the lighting in the dining area for a relaxing dinner. This is a 1-way scene so if you want more lights or need to change the scene just use the switches on the wall to adjust other lights to meet your needs. | |
| Evening Unwind | This will set the lighting in the living area for some quiet time to relax a little. This is a 1-way scene so if you want more lights or need to change the scene just use the switches on the wall to adjust the lighting to meet your needs. | |
| Kitchen | All Off Night | This scene is used when you are turning in for the night and are finished in the living, dining, and kitchen area. This scene will turn off the lights in these areas including the balcony, close the blinds and turn off the living room TV. |
| Bedroom 1,2 & 3 | Good Night | This scene will close the blinds (if not already closed) dim the downlights and transition the bedside lamps to slowly reduce the lighting in the bedroom. |
| Bedroom 1 | Good Morning | This scene will raise all the block out blinds and the sheer blind to allow views of Wamberal Beach from your bed. It will also open the living and kitchen blinds |
| Bedroom 1 | All off | This is a master off scene that will turn everything off in the apartment, so all lights, close all blinds, turn of any AV source (TV, Music) – This is a 1 – way scene to once press just let it do its thing and jump into bed. |
| Bedroom 2 | Good Morning | This scene will raise the block out blind and open the living and kitchen blinds |
Movement Sensors #
Movement Sensors are fitted in the Apartment Entry, Bedroom Hallway, Bathroom, Laundry and Ensuite. The sensor turns on the light in the room and starts a timer which is re-trigger based on further movement in the room. The switch will turn to orange and can be dimmed if required. To override the sensor, turn them off, disable them; there is a switch on the same plate for the room light. This switch is labelled “Disable Sensor” if this is pressed the orange light on the switch will confirm the sensor is disabled. This will allow the light to be turned on and off or dimmed without any affect by the sensor. To turn the sensor back on again, press the “disable sensor” switch so the orange light turns off and the sensor will be activated for automatic mode.
Schedules #
Schedules are pre-programmed in the system and events that will happen at different times in the day. The following schedule are set.
| Sunset | The bedroom sheer blinds will close. If you want to use the front balcony, please use the blind control switches near the sliding doors to open the blinds back up again. |
| Sunset | The living, dining and kitchen area will have some lighting turned on to transition to evening. This is based on the Welcome scene button being pressed once, on arrival |
| Sunset/Sunrise | Activate/Deactivate the Hallway and entry sensor. So lights will automatically work in the night and not in the day. |
| Sunset + 1hr | The bedroom block out blinds will close. |
| Sunset + 1.5hr | Bedroom 1 & 2, will be set with the bedside lamps turning on to 30%. This is based on the Welcome scene button being pressed once, on arrival. |
